What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Tanrego West is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Tanrego West, County Sligo, Ireland. The oval measure is 38 metres north-south and 24 metres east-west. A 6.5 metre wide and 1.1 metre high earth-and-stone bank encloses the west, south-west and north sides, with a 4.6 metre wide and 1.2 metre deep ditch outside it.
Situated in pasture at the W side of Ballisodare Bay. There is some evidence for a stone revetment at the inner face of the bank. For the remainder of the circuit the defining element is a partially eroded scarp (H 0.7m - 1.4m). Immediately NE of this are two parallel gullies or furrows which extend NNE through the remainder of the internal area. Compiled by: Patrick F. O'Donovan Date of upload: 19 January 2011
