What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Stoneparks is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Stoneparks, County Sligo, Ireland. Maps from 1838 and 1941 show a circular or D-shaped raised area on a ridge north of Ballymote. Quarrying removed the east and part of the south side, leaving a 20m by 15m oval with a 1.2m high scarp.
In undulating pasture, on a ridge just N of Ballymote. Indicated on the 1838 OS 6-inch map as an embanked circular area (diam. c. 25m) and on the 1941 OS 6-inch map as a D-shaped raised area. The remains consist of a raised oval area (diam. 20m x 15m) defined by a scarp (H 1.2m). The E and part of the S side have been removed by quarrying. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Sligo' compiled by Ursula Egan, Elizabeth Byrne, Mary Sleeman with Sheila Ronan and Connie Murphy (Dublin Stationery Office, 2005). Date of upload: 18 January 2008
