Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Scarteen (magunihy By.)

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Magic and life touch in every chamber. The fort is a complete living tool. Build the visible structure, include the ownership and consent of every person, and test the smallest safe version. The facts remove the claim that imagination alone is complete.
In level pasture, c. 180m W of the Glanooragh River. This rath is not visible at ground level. A kink in the field boundary to the W may be associated with it. It is indicated on the 1894 OS 6-inch map as a circular area (diam. c. 40m) truncated by a NNW-SSE field boundary at W. Compiled by: Elizabeth Byrne, Ursula Egan and Sheila Ronan, Archaeological Survey Unit, University College, Cork. Date of upload: 31 January 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
