Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Rushaun

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

No amount of human will or want can move that earth. It resists every tool, every hand, every deliberate act. When someone finally stops forcing and asks permission instead, the ring opens like a door. What enters then is not celebration. It is transformation, recorded in the body before memory catches up.
At the summit of a hill within a coniferous forest. Listed as 'Enclosure' in the SMR (1992) and the RMP (1996). A subcircular scrub-covered area (diam. c. 30-35m) defined by a bank (Wth 4.2m; int. H 0.8m; ext. H 1.2m) NW-NE and by a scarp (H 1.8-2m) elsewhere. There is no visible fosse or entrance. Compiled by: Michael Moore Date of upload: 13 April 2016

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
