Fairy fort in Rathroe, County Cork: a broken earthen ring, 42 metres wide, set in pasture on a north-facing slope. Its gaps admit rain, foot traffic and doubt; its raised interior shows that someone shaped the hill rather than merely occupying it. People may have kept livestock, hidden during storms or told the place to be off-limits by calling it fairy-owned.

In pasture, on N-facing slope. Sub-circular area (35m N-S; 42m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 0.3m); many gaps through bank, possible entrance to S and SW. Interior level and raised (H 1.95m) on N side to compensate for hillslope. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
