Fairy fort in Rathreagh More, County Limerick: a roughly circular earthen enclosure about forty metres across, mapped in 1923 and later levelled, yet a taller curving field boundary and a broad band of luxuriant grass still hint at its bank and fosse. It sits on a south-east-facing slope below a low hillock, the kind of place people once shaped for shelter, storage or pride before forgetting what it was for. The land keeps doing what it can: holding water, growing thicker grass, and refusing to admit it has lost the shape of a home.

In pasture, on SE-facing slope immediately below brow of low hillock. Monument, depicted on 1923 OS 6-inch map as roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m), has been levelled. However, curving section of field boundary NNW->NNE is higher (H 1.45m) than surrounding field boundaries and probably incorporates enclosing bank. Band (Wth 4.6m) of higher and more luxuriant grass evident SW->W, probably indicates line of infilled fosse. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
