Fairy fort in Rathea, County Kerry: a possible bivallate ringfort, internal diameter 31m, whose wide earthen banks have been almost levelled into a small marshy field. It resisted the first survey maps, emerging later as a faint circular shadow in the grass. Perhaps people walked its edge when the land was drier, or perhaps the field itself forgot the shape and keeps it hidden still.

Internal diameter 31m E-W This sub-circular enclosure is not marked on the 1841-42 OS map, but it does appear on the 1914-15 edition. Today it is much levelled and is barely perceptible on the landscape. A possible bivallate rath, it is situated in a small rectangular marshy field. The enclosing earthen bank is c 4.9m wide and rises to c .6m high. The outer earthen bank is only visible for a tiny section to the E where it is also c 4.9m wide.
