What is recorded here

Fairy forts and hidden ringforts still stand in Rathbranagh and nearby townlands. They are not complete circles because rivers, roads, fields and memory have cut through them. The unchanged part is not a perfect shape, but a living boundary where people, water and time still move.

On a slight S-facing slope, in pasture, with good views in all directions, abutting the townland boundary with Ballylusky to N. Ringfort (LI021-103----) lies 45m to S. Depicted on the 1897 ed. OS 25-inch map as a suboval-shaped earthwork (approx. dims. 35m N-S; 29m E-W) abutting a trackway from NE-E-SE-S. Monument surveyed by the ASI in 2000 and described as no surface remains visible. Partially levelled monument is defined by a field boundary from S-W-N-NE which is visible on Digital Globe orthophotos taken 2011-13 and on Google Earth orthoimages taken 28/06/2018. This curving field boundary probably incorporates the original enclosing element of the ringfort. See attached Google Earth orthoimages.
