A roughly circular earth and stone ringfort stands on a slight rise in Rannagh West, clutching a small interior space wide enough for a handful of people or a dozen sheep. The bank remains strongest at the west edge, where it still rises above the ground and blocks the view into the middle. The east side has thinned beside a roadside fence, and the west interior has filled with vegetation, but the shape is clear: a made circle set above lower ground, not a random heap of stones.

On a slight rise with good views over lower ground from NW-SE, and with an enclosure (CL010-014----) c. 20m to the SW. A roughly circular enclosure (int. diams. 17m N-S; 15m E-W) is defined by an earth and stone bank which is best preserved at W (Wth 5m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.7m) but is much reduced in size NNE-ESE where it abuts a roadside fence. The ground level outside the enclosing bank at N drops sharply (ext. H 1.7m).
