Owngallees holds a broad earthen ring with a broken south bank and a shallow causeway cutting through the southeast, large enough for several households to circle before dark. The surrounding ditch still marks the limit of that small world, even where soil and traffic have worn the outer edge flat. People may have lived, argued, buried and forgotten inside it while distance made the arrangement seem magical.

Raised circular area (int. diam. 27.5m) enclosed by a substantial earthen bank, which has been removed from SSE-S-SW, and a wide, deep fosse. Break in bank with accompanying causeway at SE represents original entrance.
