What is recorded here
Fairy fort in Oldabbey is an oval earthen ringfort, 29 metres north-south and 23.7 metres east-west, with a stone-faced bank and external fosse on a gentle NE-facing pasture slope. Its western causeway crosses the ditch but leaves no matching gap in the bank, suggesting entry was marked more by ditch-work than gate-piercing. The truncated north-eastern edge and level grassy interior imply long use, alteration and forgetting rather than a single abandoned moment.
In pasture, on gentle NE-facing slope. Oval area (29m N-S; 23.7m E-W) enclosed by earth-and-stone bank, with external fosse (Wth 1.6m; D 0.7m) E->NW. Enclosing element is truncated by field boundary NW->E. Bank (int. H 1m; ext. H 1.5m), best preserved at WSW, has remains of stone-facing on inside face. Fosse is crossed by a causeway (Wth 2m) at W, but not matched by break in bank. Level interior is under pasture.
