Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Newtown (ballymoe By.) is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Newtown (ballymoe By.), County Roscommon, Ireland. It occupies a gentle east-facing plateau slope as a circular grass-covered area measuring 38 metres north-south and 37 metres east-west. A flat-topped earthen bank and rush-covered rounded fosse define the boundary, although many gaps prevent identification of the original entrance.
On a gentle E-facing slope of a plateau. Circular grass-covered area (diam. 38m N-S; 37m E-W) defined by a flat-topped earthen bank (Wth of base 2.8-3.3m; Wth of top 1-1.3m; int. H 0.3-0.4m; ext. H 0.7-1.2m) and a rush-covered rounded fosse (Wth of top 4.5-5.6m; Wth of base 1.8-3m; D 0.15-0.45m). There are many gaps in the bank, but the original entrance could not be identified (max. ext. diam. 49m N-S; 47m E-W). See the attached aerial view taken from the WNW.
