Mud and memory collide where the canal cuts past Newbrook. A forgotten hand built the ring, perhaps to keep out rain or raiders, but the fairies took it over and widened the dark. The bank still stands eighty centimetres tall, swallowing human smallness without judgment. What we call a fort, they call a room.

Situated on a low-lying landscape between drumlins and c. 35m NW of a NE-SW section of the Ballinamore and Ballyconnell canal. This is an overgrown circular area (diam. c. 44m N-S; c. 41m E-W) defined by an overgrown earthen bank (Wth 2-3m; ext. H 0.8m), which is incorporated into a field bank E-S, and with an external flat-bottomed fosse visible at NNW and SW (Wth 3m; D 0.35m).
