Fairy fort in Nantinan, County Kerry: a 40 m earthen ring with two banks and a fosse, partly levelled in the 1930s or 1940s. Its eastern entrance faces a waterlogged dip hidden by reeds, while a standing stone waits 190 m to the southwest. The fort may be the W. Nantenane fort noted in the 1840s, but its older life remains unfinished: a circle made by hands, changed by time, and still holding the shape of the people who turned it into a place.

In pasture, on level ground. A circular area (diam. 40m) defined by the remains of two earthen banks and an intervening fosse. The inner bank (Wth 4.4m; int. H 0.25m; ext. H 0.45m) was, according to local information, levelled in the 1930s/40s. The fosse (Wth 3.2m; D 0.15m) is evident E-ENE. The remains of the possible outer bank are only evident along the E arc. The interior slopes down to the E, where there is a waterlogged area, obscured by reeds. There is a causeway entrance (Wth c. 5m) at E. This may be the rath which was recorded as 'W. Nantenane fort' in the 1840s (OSNB, Killorglin, no. 1, 5). There is a standing stone (KE057-037----) c. 190m to the SW.
