No visible stones remain, but the forgotten fort still circles Mounteagle like a hidden heartbeat. It may have housed a family, a herdsman or a child learning the shape of storms. The fairies keep what people forget, and that is why the field feels fuller rather than empty.

Marked on the 1841 edition of the OS 6-inch map as a subcircular shaped enclosure (max. diam. c. 40m NW-SE) . Reference to a rath in an article about Laois Folklore in Bealoideas (Roe 22, 26-27).
