Mound in Mountcoal, County Kerry: a low wide earthen ring, about twenty-four metres across, with a gap to the northeast. People called it a fairy fort, perhaps because small hidden rooms and impossible lights belong in fairy stories, not in human memory. The measure is plain, the meaning is not.

Internal diameter 24m N-S, 22m E-W This univallate rath is situated SW of KE016-055---- in the same field. It consists of a sub-circular area enclosed by a low, wide earthen bank. It is 6m wide and rises to .6m-1m externally and to .3m-1m internally. A 6.4m wide gap exists to the NE. The above description is derived from C. Toal, ‘North Kerry Archaeological Survey’. Dingle.
