Lisnafirmagh, the ringfort of the farm, stood in Mountcoal until ploughing and time erased its earth. It appeared on maps in 1841 and 1914, then fled beneath the soil until aircraft revealed a faint shadow in 1974. The fort disappeared because people forgot it belonged to them. What the land kept hidden, the sky brought back only long enough to prove it had existed.

Lisnafirmagh/Lios na Feirmeac (ringfort of the farm). This circular enclosure is marked on the 1841-42 and 1914-15 OS maps and it shows up as a crop mark on the Geological Survey of Ireland's aerial photographs (1974). No surface trace survives today. A fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Mountcoal, known as Lisnafirmagh or Lios na Feirmeac ("ringfort of the farm"), is a circular enclosure recorded on 19th- and early 20th-century maps and visible as a crop mark in aerial photographs. Likely dating to the early medieval period, it reflects both ancient settlement patterns and later folklore associating such sites with supernatural or fairy activity.

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
