Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Moneymohill

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Two earthen rings, one beside the other, filled the low pasture beside the White River until ploughs and time erased them. They were large enough to hold a small hall or a dozen people, yet they vanished completely from the land. What disappeared is not gone, because memory and story keep shaping the world. The rings lived in the body of the place, and that is why they must be remembered.
In low-lying pasture, close to E bank of White River. Monument, depicted as circular enclosure (diam. c. 20m) on 1923 OS 6-inch map, has been levelled. No trace of monument evident when inspected. Conjoined to its NE side was similar enclosure (LI018-08602-) also now levelled. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011

The monument record does not grant public access. Check the route and ask the landowner before entering private land.
