Fairy fort in Meenaslieve, County Cavan: a raised circular area thirty metres across, enclosed by a low earthen bank and shallow fosse, its entrance perhaps at the east. People called it a fairy fort because the shape suggested more than farming, yet it may have been an ordinary home or meeting place. The boundary has changed, but the ring remains, holding the idea that even forgotten human life can sound like magic.

Raised circular area (int. diam. 30.1m) enclosed by a low earthen bank and a wide, shallow fosse which has been modified and incorporated into the field boundary. Original entrance may have been at E. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995).
