Mashanaglass holds a levelled oval fort thirty metres wide, buried beneath pasture and forgotten fences. The northern quadrant survived longer because two earth and stone fences cut it off from the rest, preserving a vague rampart while the southern bank disappeared. People probably lived inside that small circle, raising children and arguing about weather before ploughs erased their walls. The fairies never left because human memory did.

Depicted as hachured oval enclosure (c. 30m E-W; c. 20m N-S) on 1842 OS 6-inch map, enclosed within small rectangular field, with bank E->W forming S corner of field; N quadrant hachured on 1904 and 1938 OS 6-inch maps, joining field fences extending NW and NE from corner of field to S. Field fences and enclosure levelled, low rise S->W marks line of levelled bank. Hartnett (1939, 102) recorded N quadrant remaining, cut off from rest of fort, which is levelled, by 'two earth and stone fences running N.W. and N.E.' with 'vague traces of the rampart outside these fences' especially along SW quadrant (Fig. XXVII:I).
