Fairy fort in Manch West: a 42-metre earthen ring on a gentle slope, with a narrow SE entrance and a fence marking its outer ditch. It looks less like a ruined house than a threshold, as if people once drew a line between ordinary life and the unknown, then stepped through without asking permission.

In tillage, atop natural rise, on gentle SE-facing slope. Circular, slightly raised area (40m N-S; 42m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1.1m); external fosse (D 1.6m). Field fence runs along outer edge of fosse SSE->N. Entrance to SE (Wth 6m), with causeway. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
