Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lissyconor is a poorly preserved subcircular rath on a grassland rise in County Galway, Ireland. Its degraded scarp still marks a broad oval, while a later field wall climbs part of the south and west edge. The northern gap may be original, leaving the place open to weather, memory and imagination.
On a rise in grassland. Poorly preserved subcircular rath (E-W 40.6m, N-S 36.9m) defined by a degraded scarp, overlain by a field wall from ESE through S to WSW. A gap at N may be original. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Galway Vol. II - North Galway'. Compiled by Olive Alcock, Kathy de hÓra and Paul Gosling (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1999). Date of upload: 05 August 2010
