Lisnagrave: The name itself is a fossil. Lissnagarve fort gave the townland its identity before the field took the shape of the story. The fort has vanished or hidden beneath grass and memory, but the name still points to it like a wound pointing to the bone. To walk Lisnagrave is to move through the afterimage of a fort that once stood so clearly it entered the mouth of everyone who lived near it.

In the 1840s 'Lissnagarve' fort, from which the townland derives its name, was recorded as being in the S side of Lisnagrave (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 1, 8). It has not been precisely located.
