Fairy fort in Lismenan sits atop a drumlin, a circular space nearly twenty-six metres across where coniferous trees still grow inside a low earthen scarp. The ridge rises higher toward the west and north, yet no entrance or ditch remains visible. People once called it a fairy fort, perhaps because the hidden boundary and elevated position made the ordinary field feel owned by something else.

Situated on top of a drumlin. This is a circular area (diam. 25.5m E-W; 25m N-S) planted with coniferous trees that is defined by a scarp (Wth 1-1.1m; H 0.85m at E to 1.4m at W and 1.6m at N). There is no visible fosse or identifiable original entrance. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Monaghan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1986).
