Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lisduff (carbury By.) is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Lisduff (carbury By.), County Sligo, Ireland. The raised circular area measures 33 metres across and sits on a slight rise in gently undulating pasture. A narrow earth bank and external fosse define much of the perimeter, while a broad gently sloping scarp replaces the missing bank from south-south-east to east-south-east.
Situated on a slight rise in gently undulating pasture. Raised circular area (diam. 33m) enclosed by a narrow bank of earth (Wth 3.6m; int. H 0.8m). At the external foot of the bank is a fosse (Wth 3.8; D 0.4). From SSE-ESE the bank is mostly absent and the site is defined by a broad, gently sloping, scarp (H 0.7m). Slight remains of the bank are visible as a barely perceptible rise along the top of the scarp edge SSE-SW and NE-ESE. The fosse encloses the site E-SSE with slight traces visible elsewhere as a slight depression at the base of the scarp. The original entrance is not recognisable. Compiled by: Patrick F.
