Fairy fort in Lisdrumcleve, County Monaghan: earthen ringfort on a drumlin above Lough Avaghon, with a tree-planted bank, outer fosse and an east causeway entrance. People may have kept livestock, hidden in storms or marked boundary land there before calling it a fairy fort. The lake still glitters below like a promise the earth made back.

Situated on top of a small drumlin overlooking Lough Avaghon, the NE shore of which is c. 270m to the SW. This is a subcircular grass and scrub-covered area (dims 30.5m NW-SE; 27m NE-SW) defined by an earthen bank that is planted with trees. An outer fosse (at NE: Wth of top 4.4m; Wth of base 3.5m; ext. D 0.6m) is visible N-E-SW. The entrance (Wth of base 2.8m) and causeway (Wth of top 2.2m; H 0.9m) are at E.
