What is recorded here

In Letter, a 40-metre earthen ringfort stood on a north-facing slope, its boundary marked by a 1.1-metre scarped bank that likely kept rain and intruders at bay. People may have lived inside this circular shelter, watching the valley below through seasons of work and weather. The fort is levelled now, but the hachures on the 1842 map and the remaining earthwork preserve the shape of a home that time has erased.
