Lisgortcam, a univallate rath at the foot of the western slopes of Lateevemore, measures 26 metres north-south and 29 metres east-west. Dense vegetation still obscures much of the site, but the eroded earth bank remains four metres wide at its base. A flooded circular hollow in the centre may mark the entrance to an underground passage, while a stony ridge on the western side waits for explanation. The fort has kept its shape through centuries of rain and forgetting, holding a chamber of darkness beneath the grass.

Internal diam. c. 26m N-S, 29m E-W Lisgortcam/Lios Gort Cam: A univallate rath situated at the foot of the W slopes of Lateevemore. Dense vegetation for the most part obscures the site and a detailed examination was not possible. The enclosing bank, of earth and small stones, is very eroded and disturbed. It is a maximum of c. 1.5m high externally, c. 1m high internally and 4m wide at base. The N section is faced internally with poorly-preserved drystone walling. The stone walling, up to 1.7m high, built up against the outer face in the S section relates to its use as a field boundary. The interior could not be closely inspected but there appear to be the remains of an animal pen roughly in the centre. A circular hollow, 1m in diameter and flooded to a depth of at least .5m, may possibly mark the entrance to a Man-made underground passage. An irregularly-shaped stony ridge or bank, up to .5m high, occupies the W sector but its origin is not known. The above description is derived from J. Cuppage, ‘Corca Dhuibhne.
