Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lamagh

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort in Lamagh, County Longford: a circular rath about forty-four metres across on an open rise. By 1976 the earthworks had nearly vanished, leaving only a slight swell and a mossy band of vegetation. A landscaped garden now covers the site, yet the old line may still shape the soil beneath the flowers.
On a rise with good views in all directions. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A report in 1976 (SMR file) described this roughly circular rath (diam. c. 44m) as being almost completely obliterated. All that was visible was a slight rise combined with a distinctive mossy band of vegetation. It is not visible at ground level, a landscaped garden marks its location.
