Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lack West

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Lack West holds a ringfort, an earthen circle built by human hands but renamed a fairy fort because people stopped understanding why the land shaped itself that way. The boundary between memory and myth is thin in Clare, and this is where it breaks. What we call supernatural is often just human activity older than record-keeping, done so repeatedly and deliberately that it became legend. The fort does not need belief to be real; it needs recognition.
