Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Lack East

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Lack East preserves a faint earthen ring, the kind of boundary people drew when they stopped trusting the horizon. It is not a grand castle or a polished monument, but a small circular claim made in soil, perhaps for a home, a fold, a workshop or a family that no longer answers to name. The fairness in its local title does not decorate the shape; it exposes the human temptation to populate empty places. Standing near such a ring is to accept that clarity has limits. What is known is that people shaped the land into a circle and left the meaning unfinished.
The Archaeological Survey of Ireland (ASI) is in the process of providing information on all monuments on The Historic Environment Viewer (HEV).
