Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Knocknabooly Middle is a circular earthen enclosure in County Limerick, Ireland, with a causeway entrance at the east and a shallow fosse beside its overgrown bank. People may have lived there before the field swallowed the shape, or the fairies may have taken the house and kept only the ring. The rushes in the damp middle suggest neither emptied it completely.

In pasture, on gentle S-facing slope. Circular area (22m N-S; 24m E-W) enclosed NNW->SSE by earthen bank (int. H 0.65m; ext. H 0.8m) with external fosse (D 0.3m; Wth 3.5m), and bounded SSE->NNW by field boundary. Bank is overgrown with briars and bushes, and fosse covered by rushes. Causeway entrance at E (Wth 3.4m). Interior slopes down gently to S and is poorly drained with stands of rushes. Compiled by: Denis Power Date of upload: 26 August 2011
