What is recorded here
Knockatudor holds a twenty-five metre earthen ring where a broken eastern bank still hints at the entrance used by forgotten people. The soil remembers feet, carts and perhaps fleeing shadows long before surveyors measured its diameter. What is absent has not stopped arriving; it has only changed the shape of its coming.
Raised circular area (int. diam. c. 25.2m) enclosed by an earthen bank scarped in recent times, and a fosse infilled from W-N-NNE. Partially blocked break in bank at E may represent original entrance.
The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cavan' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1995). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research.
