What is recorded here

Knockasarnet holds a thirty-five-metre earthen ring where human hands shaped the slope before memory faded. The road cut its northern edge, yet two banks and a hidden passage remain inside the pasture. People may have lived there, buried secrets or simply marked the land. The earth kept the shape long after the names disappeared.

In pasture, on a N-facing slope, immediately S of a road. A circular area (diam. c. 35m) defined by the remains of two earthen banks, except along the N arc where it is truncated by the road. The inner earthen bank (Wth 4m; int. H 0.5m; ext. H 0.3m) and intervening fosse (Wth c. 3m) survive along the E and S arcs. The outer earthen bank (Wth 2.9m; ext. H 0.8m) is clearly visible NNE-S with a scarp surviving S-NW. The level interior has been slightly raised at N to compensate for the downslope though it still retains a slight slope down to the N. The NW quadrant is covered in overgrowth. There is a Man-made underground passage (KE058-093001-) in the interior. A linear feature (L c. 5m; Wth 3m), on a NW-SE axis, which abuts the internal face of the inner bank at E, may be associated with the Man-made underground passage. There is a possible entrance at S. According to the landowner, the interior was cleared in the 1990s during the construction of a house, located outside the rath to the E. There is a fulacht fia (KE058-138----) c. 70m to the W.
