Knockanush East holds a earthen ringfort, a circular defence built by human hands yet named for fairy folk. The earthwork still stands in County Kerry, marking a place where people lived, defended themselves or abandoned the field to legend. Local tradition often transforms forgotten human homes into fairy forts, suggesting the community stopped remembering the people but kept the shape sacred.
