Fairy forts are misnamed; they are human ringforts where people lived, paid taxes and buried their dead. The fairies are the fiction people invented later because they had stopped imagining the humans who actually built them.

On a SW-facing slope in pasture, a short distance above the river Shannon. Depicted as a circular enclosure with the designation 'Fort' on the 1837 ed. of the OS 6-inch map. A raised circular area (diam. 42.7m) enclosed by a modern-looking, low, narrow bank of earth and stone with an external fosse. The original entrance is not recognisable.
