Kippane holds a faded ringfort where a twenty-two metre earthen bank once rose half a metre above pasture. Cattle have since dragged much of that boundary into the soil, leaving only a subtle corner rise and a shallow ditch to mark the circle. The field fence now crosses the ancient scarp, treating a human boundary as merely another line for sheep to test. What looked like a fairy fort may have been a ordinary home, its walls forgotten until measurement recovered their shape.

In undulating pasture, in SE corner of field. Levelled; noticeable rise visible in corner of field. Incorporated into field fence system is scarp NE->SE, with external fosse (D c. 0.5m). An earlier report (OPW, 22-12-1981) recorded circular area (diam. c. 22m) enclosed by low earthen bank (H 0.5m) with narrow external fosse and interior sloping gently down to SSE.
