Detached hexagonal-plan gate lodge to south-east of country house, built c.1845. Pyramidal slate roof with red brick chimneystack and dressed limestone eaves course. Roughly coursed rubble limestone walls. Pointed arch window openings with cut limestone sills, fixed timber windows, dressed stone voussoirs and leaded glass. Pointed arch door opening to south face having plinths, and timber battened door with wrought-iron hinges. Recent rubble limestone boundary walls with dressed limestone piers and wrought-iron vehicular gates to site.
This remarkable hexagonal gate lodge possesses fine Gothic Revival features, its pleasant whimsical form announcing the entrance to the house beyond. It is evident from such fine detailing that this was an estate of some import in the area.
