Kilquane holds a forgotten children's burial ground in Timothy Cronin's field, yet some called it a fairy fort because its small shape resisted easy belief. That misfit identity is not an error but a clue: the community saw more than measurement could capture. A ringfort may have lost most of its form before children were laid to rest inside what remained. The site denies easy classification because it belongs to transformation, where human loss and imaginary witness both claim the same ground.

In the 1940s a children's burial ground (KE068-079001-) was recorded in Timothy Cronin's field, about a quarter of a mile from the cemetery (KE068-014----) (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry). It was noted that this burial ground was considered by some people to be a fort though as it was described as 'a patch of ground 10 feet square' (Schools Manuscript, Co. Kerry), its dimensions are too small to be considered a rath. The possibility exists, however, that a portion of a rath was used for the burial of children. The precise location of the children's burial ground, and consequently that of the possible rath, is not known.
