Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Kilmore (athlone North By., Lecarrow Ed) is a fairy fort or earthen ringfort in Kilmore (athlone North By., Lecarrow Ed), County Roscommon, Ireland. It appears only on the 1915 Ordnance Survey map as a fifty-metre circular feature on a south-east-facing hill slope. A western entrance measured 2.5 metres wide, while a rectangular house-site occupied the northern inner area. Reclaimed pasture has since removed the earthworks from ground-level view.
Marked only on the 1915 ed. of the OS 6-inch map as a circular feature (diam. c. 50m), and situated on the SE-facing slope of a hill. Described as a circular area defined by an earthen bank and fosse, with an inner fosse and inner bank only at N (Ganoan1972), but this may have been a quarry. The entrance (Wth 2.5m) was at W, and there was a rectangular house-site (RO042-072002-) inside the inner bank feature at N (ibid.). It is not now visible at ground level in reclaimed pasture.
