What is recorded here

Kilmeany is named in a 1995 archaeological survey as a lost earthen ringfort, recorded only on the 1841-42 Ordnance Survey map with a fieldbank along its southern edge. It vanished from later mapping and left no visible trace, perhaps swallowed by farms, roads or forgetting. The name Fairy fort may be human mischief or warning, a reminder that fields and forges change the shape of the world.

This circular enclosure is marked on the 1841-42 OS map with a fieldbank running along its S to SW bank. It does not appear on the later edition and no surface trace remains today.
