What is recorded here

Kilmeany is called a fairy fort, but it is an earthen ringfort. It appeared on the 1841-42 Ordnance Survey map, then vanished from the later map and from the land itself. A circle of soil may have stood there, holding a house, a yard and a life. The fairies are only the name people gave to what the field stopped remembering.

This circular enclosure is marked on the 1841-42 OS map, but it does not appear on the later edition map and no surface trace survives today. The above description is derived from C.
