Fairy fort in Killountane: circular earthworks, forty metres across, on a south-facing farm slope in County Cork. A road cut through the bank at the northeast, and in 1996 people found a hidden underground passage beneath the field. The fort is no longer a fort in the proud sense; it is a fairy fort now, which means the land has stopped explaining itself and is waiting to be watched.

In tillage, on S-facing slope. Circular area (40m N-S; 41m E-W) enclosed by low remains of levelled bank. Road truncates line of bank to NE. A Man-made underground passage (CO097-035001-) was discovered here in 1996. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
