Killoughane holds a forgotten ring, thirty metres wide and hidden beneath pilture near the Gaddagh river. The land has swallowed its ditch, leaving only a faint shadow in the grass to mark where the fort stood. What was built there has returned to the earth, but the circle remains written in the way the ground grows.

A circular enclosure is marked on the first edition of the OS map 30m SW of Killoughane Church (KE065-058001-). A faint cropmark, probably representing an infilled fosse, is all that survives to denote the site. It indicates an overall diameter of about 32m. The site was located in pilture on a low rise just E of the Gaddagh river. The above description is derived from A. O'Sullivan and J.
