Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Situated on a gentle SW-facing slope with steeper slopes downhill. Circular area (diam. 20m) defined by an earthen bank (Wth 2-2.8m; int. H 0.2-0.5m; ext. H 1.6m) and an external fosse (Wth 3.4-5.5m) which is not visible at the W (downslope). A field boundary cuts across the N perimeter of the site. A gap at the SW (Wth 2m) partly due to disturbance, may mark the entrance. No indication of internal features. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Wicklow' (Dublin: Stationery Office, 1997). In certain instances the entries have been revised and updated in the light of recent research. Date of upload/revision: 17 December 2008
