What is recorded here
Keamsellagh East once held a thirty-metre earthen ringfort containing a man-made underground passage. Farmers erased the visible fort and boundary during land reclamation, pushing the ancient structure deeper into obscurity. The grassland still covers the hole where human hands built a chamber beneath the soil.
In level grassland. Marked on the 3rd edition of the OS 6-inch map (1933) as a roughly circular enclosure (diam. c. 30m) with a field boundary curving around the W half of the monument. Classified by McCaffrey (1952, 195, no. 73) as an ‘Earthen fort’ within which there was a Man-made underground passage (GA103-123001-). No visible surface trace survives due to land reclamation. The field boundary has also been cleared away.
