Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Gortymadden

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort

What is recorded here

Fairy fort / earthen ringfort in Gortymadden stands in undulating pastureland, a roughly circular rath twenty-six metres wide. Its bank rose by scarping a low knoll, leaving three-metre gaps at the northeast and southwest. A man-made underground passage remains nearby. People may have lived inside, hidden beneath, or simply passed through the gaps while believing the fort belonged to others.
