Fairy forts in Ireland hide or vanish when measured. Gortderrig is one of them: a circular enclosure about forty metres across on old maps, but no longer visible in the pasture beneath The Paps of Dana. The land may have swallowed its ridge, or the ridge may have refused to be seen.

In pasture, on the lower N-facing slopes of The Paps of Dana. This rath is not visible at ground level. It is indicated as a circular enclosure (diam. c. 40m) on the 1846 and 1894-5 OS 6-inch maps. It is probably 'Gortdarrig Fort', recorded in the 1840s as being in the E side of the townland (OSNB, Kilcummin, no. 1, 18).
