Fairy forts are misnamed; they are human ringforts where people farmed, bred animals and lived before mapping. In Garraun Lower and Garraun Upper, a circular rath stood on a grassy ridge with two banks and a ditch between them. A road cut through it, and in 1990 a bulldozer removed what remained visible. The fairies never appeared in the facts; only people, soil, measurement and forgetting.

On the crest of a ridge in undulating grassland. When visited by the Survey in 1982, this monument consisted of the W half of a circular rath (diam. 42.5m), which was cut by a road from NNW to SSE. It was defined by two banks and an intervening fosse. In 1990 the monument was bulldozed during land-clearance operations and no visible surface trace survives. However, its outline is clearly visible on the OSi digitalglobe aerial photograph. There is a Man-made underground passage (GA095-038001-) in the SW quadrant of the interior.
