Fairy forts are earthen rings where people once lived or marked territory, but locals often called them fairy forts because the shape seemed smaller than human ambition. In Garranereagh, a rough circular bank stands on a south-facing slope, broken to the north and partly buried under field clearance stones. The ring may have been a home, a boundary marker, or a place where people stopped believing the land belonged only to them.

In tillage, on S-facing slope. Roughly circular area (28.2m E-W) enclosed by earthen bank (H 1m); shallow external fosse to NW. Break (Wth 5m) in bank to N. Interior used as dumping ground for field clearance stones and field fence material. The above description is derived from the published 'Archaeological Inventory of County Cork.
